Dr. Blondean Y. Davis |
|
|
Dr. Blondean Y.
Davis, Superintendent of Matteson Elementary School District 162, has been
named the 2008 Illinois Superintendent of the Year. The award is sponsored
by the Illinois Association of School Administrators.
Dr. Davis was
selected from among more than 800 Illinois superintendents. Dr. Davis
credits her success to working with a dedicated staff, supportive parents
and a Board of Education with a vision.
Dr. Davis was
appointed superintendent of District 162 in 2002. She took over a district
that had experienced rapid increases in enrollment and significant
demographic changes. In 2007, District 162 schools were ranked among the top
10 school districts in the south suburban area of Chicago, based on
performance on the 2007 ISAT. Arcadia School students achieved a 97.6% on
the spring ISAT. Illinois Elementary posted 93.9%.
We congratulate Dr. Davis and her
district on the recognition of their accomplishment.
